• At present, the domestic market of the pharmaceuticalindustry in Bangladesh is above Tk 13,000 crore and the international market is more than Tk 650 crore.

• The growth rate in this sector is around 9 percent. There are currently 850 government-listed small and big pharmaceutical factories and 269 allopathic pharmaceutical companies in different regions of the country, which meet 98 percent of the country's demand and export the drug to more than 160 countries.

• The country is now producing about 25 billion rupees of drugs and raw materials a year, and the industry generates employment for about two million people. After the success of the garment industry, Bangladesh sees the pharmaceutical industry as one of the major export products. The industry has been able to achieve similar efficiencies in the production of medicines in the field of agriculture in the face of various adversities.

• Earlier, Bangladesh's domestic demand was met by importing large amounts of drugs from abroad. At the moment, Bangladesh is at the top of pharmaceutical production among the 48 most developed countries in the world.

• Information 1:According to the Directorate of Drug Administration, Bangladesh currently has 269 allopathic, 206 ayurvedic, 266 Unani, 32 herbal and 79 homeopathic medicine processing companies, all of which are controlled/monitored by the Directorate of Drug Administration.
